Running Crashplan on QNAP NAS? Update QPKG to latest version!

There is an excellent Crashplan (headless) server app which allows your QNAP NAS to act as a backup destination for your client computers:


Recently, I noticed my PC's were not connecting to my NAS. Looking at the forum I found that the maintainer had released an update to make it work with the latest (internet-updated) client version.

So, I downloaded the .qpkg file from the forum link, went to 'Applications' / 'Install Manually' and installed the package over the top of the current version (the suggested procedure).

My Crashplan clients started connecting straight away, backups running as normal.

There is a new setup configuration process for this version:

3. New On the web interface, there's an ID mentioned. Edit your local machine's .ui_info file (see .UI_INFO File Location section below) and replace the ID with the one from your NAS

 Windows: C:\ProgramData\CrashPlan\.ui_info
 Mac: /Library/Application Support/CrashPlan/.ui_info - you may need to have the finder display hidden files
 Linux: /var/lib/crashplan/.ui_info
